Recital Info for Students and Parents

Our year-end production, “Welcome to the Jungle” is right around the corner! Here is some important information for dancers and their families.

SHOWS & LOCATION

Our classes will be split into 2 separate shows.

View the Recital Spreadsheet to determine if your child is in Show A, Show B, or both shows.

Show A
  • Show A will perform Saturday, May 4th at 1:00 and Sunday, May 5th at 5:00
  • Show A will have a Dress Rehearsal on Wednesday, May 1st
Show B
  • Show B will perform Saturday, May 4th at 5:00 and Sunday, May 5th at 1:00
  • Show B will have a Dress Rehearsal on Thursday, May 2nd

All performances and dress rehearsals will be held at The Gillis Theater in Marshall Hall at VMI.

Due to an event at VMI, there are no rehearsals or performances on Friday, May 3rd. 

RECITAL WEEK SCHEDULE

  • View the Recital Week Schedule
  • Students will practice on the stage at The Gillis Theater at VMI.
  • Recital Week will include a Dress Rehearsal for each show, which includes full costume, hair, and makeup.
  • It is important for dancers to attend all rehearsals and be on time.

HAIR & TIGHTS REQUIREMENTS

  • View the Recital Spreadsheet to see the specific hair style and style of tights the dance teacher has assigned for each costume.
  • A limited number of tights of all colors can be purchased at TheStudio.

NUDE LEOTARDS

  • Dancers who have multiple dances within the same show (for example a ballet, tap, and jazz costume change) are required to wear a nude leotard.
  • Nude leotards are flesh colored leotards worn underneath tights and dance costumes.
  • We require them for the dancers’ and staff’s comfort and safety during quick costume changes.

TICKETS

  • Tickets are $12 each.
  • All accounts must be paid in full to receive recital tickets.
  • All attendees must have a ticket.
  • We strongly recommend purchasing your tickets as early as possible. Shows have sold out in the past.
  • Tickets may be purchased Monday-Thursday during class hours at TheStudio, located at 126 Walker Street, Lexington. Call (540) 463-3436 or email us with questions.

COSTUMES

  • Recital costumes will be sent home the week of April 15th.
  • All accounts must be up to date to receive your dancer’s costumes.
